September 2019
Dear Parents and Students,
Hello! My name is Erich Ziegler, and I am a Science and Technology Teacher at Forest Park Schools in Crystal Falls, MI. I am teaching Science 6, Science 7, Earth Science, and Exploratory 7 this year. I also coach Track and Field at Forest Park. I am a FP alumnus and enjoy giving back to the school and community that gave me so much.
Education is a career that I am passionate about. I enjoy the big picture of education and look forward to continuing to serve students, their families, and the greater community. The field of education is a noble, yet difficult career. Doing our best, and inspiring others to do the same, is imperative. We owe it to ourselves, the district, the community, and most importantly, we owe it to the students.
I earned my B.A. from Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, MN with degrees in Secondary Education and Science Teaching. I was also on the Nordic Ski Team and Cross-Country Team at Gustavus. I have my M.S. in Applied Science Education from Michigan Technological University. My master's report looked at the benefits of real-world issues in a classroom. I also have my Ed.S. degree in Administration and Supervision from Northern Michigan University. My Ed.S. Thesis was on rural education, and how schools and their communities can continue to thrive in the future. A link to my thesis is: https://commons.nmu.edu/theses/141/
My wife, Chandra, (2nd grade teacher) and I have three daughters (Emma, 8; Hali, 4; Kate, 1). They are truly wonderful.
I love the beauty of nature and the world around me, and enjoy fishing, hunting, canoeing, camping, skiing, and running.
Take care,
Erich Ziegler
